[NEWS] Girls’ Generation to Release New Japanese Single and Complete Video Collection

Girls’ Generation will be releasing a Japanese single, featuring two new songs, on September 26th. The title of the single has not yet been determined. The regular edition will cost 1,260 yen while the limited first edition, which includes a sticker and a DVD with a music video, will cost 1,890 yen.

Girls’ Generation’s complete video collection will also be released on September 26th in both Blu-Ray and DVD formats, and both formats will come in limited and regular editions. Both the Blu-Ray and DVD limited editions of the video collection will contain an extra disc with a one-hour interview of Girls’ Generation. In both editions, the video collection contains all Korean and Japanese releases by Girls’ Generation. There will also be an English version of “The Boys” and re-edits of “MR. [NEWS] Girls’ Generation Is The Most Influential Celebrity in Korea

The yearly rankings by the Sisa Journal for the people who move Korea has been published, and Girls’ Generation has been ranked as the #1 most influential celebrity for the second year in a row.

Girls’ Generation was in first place with 26.2% of the votes, ahead of the nation’s MC Yoo Jaesuk with 21% and Park Jinyoung with 10.1%. Girls’ Generation widened the gap since last year where they were first with 18.2% compared to Yoo Jaesuk’s 14.2%. The worldwide success of “The Boys”, the Girls’ Generation – TTS subunit, Yoona and Yuri’s drama roles, and each of the nine members helped to promote the name “Girls’ Generation” to gain even more recognition within Korea and abroad as the representative of Hallyu. Girls’ Generation was sixth on the list in 2009 and 2010 before taking the top spot in 2011.

Additionally, Mnet released their list of top 100 idol stars, and all nine Girls’ Generation members were represented within the top eleven spots. Mnet’s poll took into account online voting from fans for 30% of the final score and the results from the internationally respected polling company Gallup, which accounted for the remaining 70% of the score.

[NEWS] 120808 Sooyoung Helps Promote Her University

On July 13th, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, who is a student studying drama and cinema at Chung-Ang University, visited the university’s President’s office. She had a discussion with President Ahn Gookshin, Director of Admissions Lee Chankyu, Director of School Affairs Han Sangjun, and Head of Public Relations Lee Taehyun, regarding the university’s promotional video.

Student Choi Sooyoung took part in the 2013 admissions promotional video shoot. This video, which is currently under works, will be used to promote Chung-Ang University and will be directed towards students taking entrance exams.

Ahn Gookshin stated, “We give thanks to Soooyoung for helping the school without hesitation, despite her busy schedule. We hope that she will help the development of the school’s image in the future.”

Sooyoung stated, “It’s a little help, but I’m happy that it will help the university. I hope many students will gain interest in our school through the video.”

[NEWS] 120806 Sooyoung Finishes Filming for ‘The 3rd Hospital’

Sooyoung recently finished filming her last scene for the upcoming tvN drama “The 3rd Hospital”. She has been filming for five months since March of this year.

On her last day as Lee Euijin, the character that Sooyoung plays, the filming set transformed into a sea of tears. As soon as the director yelled “cut” and her acting came to an end, Oh Jiho, the actor who plays Seunghyun and who Sooyoung has the most scenes with, brought out a cake to celebrate Sooyoung’s last day of shooting.

Admist the warm applause and cheers, Sooyoung blew out the candles and finally burst into tears that she had been trying to hold in. She shared her thoughts on her last day of filming, and the staff and crew also teared up when they felt her sincerity.

Afterwards, Sooyoung passed out handwritten letters and signed Girls’ Generation CDs to over one hundred staff members. She also gifted them whitening makeup because she felt that the staff had suffered through many outdoor filming scenes.

The staff, sad from having to part ways with Sooyoung’s considerate nature and her exceptional ability to always lift the mood of people around her, threw a party for her, despite the all-night filming they faced that night.

“The 3rd Hospital” is the first medical drama based on eastern medicine and is set to air on September 5th.

[NEWS] Sooyoung Attends ‘The 3rd Hospital’ Press Conference

On July 31st, Sooyoung attended a press conference for “The 3rd Hospital”, in which she talked about acting for her first main role since debuting as a member of Girls’ Generation. She revealed, “It was my first time being in front of a camera as an actress since ‘Hello, Schoolgirl’. I was in a state of shock while filming the first scene.”

In “The 3rd Hospital”, Sooyoung plays Lee Euijin, a viola player who has recently moved to Korea. At the press conference, Sooyoung also discussed the challenges of playing a viola player, saying, “I had a hard time at first. I’m still not very good at it, but I’m thinking about making it my special talent later.”

Finally, Sooyoung mentioned the difficulties of acting with aegyo, and said, “I don’t really have a lot of aegyo, but the character I’m portraying has a lot of aegyo, so it’s difficult.”
